Where to eat in Fort William

There are a lot of independent restaurants and bars in the area. We’ve rounded up our recommendations.

Our sister bar and restaurant has held pride of place in the High street since 1806, serving good pub grub. It’s a comfortable space and the Jacobite Bar is the place to work through a fine selection of Malt Whiskies.

In Scottish weather, it’s cosy with roaring fires and an impressive array of Whisky and craft gins to work through. In the summer it has the best outdoor terrace overlooking Loch Linnhe and is a real sun trap. Hearty food, local beer and spirits and great atmosphere.

A bit of a trip to get to, but makes for a great wee adventure. Take the Corran Ferry across to the Ardnamurchan peninsula. The Inn at Ardgour is just at the jetty on the other side and serves simple pub food.

Enjoy fresh Scottish seafood from their red roofed restaurant on Fort William pier, or by a log fire in the town centre in their cosy sister restaurant the Garrison West. Open Wednesday - Sunday.

There’s nothing better than a good coffee and a slice of cake after a day of exploring. Come rain or shine, enjoy freshly baked pastries and bread at this cosy cafe.
